Glass Beach - Ussuri Bay, Russia

Ok, I'll admit this one is a little harder to travel to. But Russia's "glass beach" in Ussuri Bay has been making quite a splash lately; pun intended. 

I think what really gets me is how beautiful all those colors are against the stark white snow in the winter months. It's still a shame that so much waste was dumped on this beautiful shore, and let us remember that plastic does not behave this way and is a serious threat and danger the marine life. 

Apparently this beach is only about a 30 minute drive from Vladivostok. So in the event that you just happen to be in the area, I'd definitely make a detour (does anyone just happen to be in Russia??) The tall cliffs surrounding the bay add to the grandeur of this magical place which also boasts quite a bit of porcelain. Rumor has it there was an old porcelain factory around here. On the other hand, it could have just been a part of the other dumping that took place. At any rate, this is truely a wonder to behold and it's deffinitly going on my bucket list!
